Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Mental Health

On 24 May 2026, a dedicated team of volunteers set out to complete the UK Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge — one of the country’s most physically demanding endurance events. The aim? To raise vital funds and awareness for mental health through the RookMay Foundation.

The challenge involves a circular 24-mile (38.6 km) route in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It features over 1,585m (5,200 ft) of total ascent and aims to summit Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

Meet the Team

The walking team included: May Ladd, Shilpa Mistry and Chirag Mistry supported by Satish Shah and his vital team of guides and volunteers from the Charity Through Adventure group.

Why We Took on the Challenge

Mental health affects millions of people every year, and the RookMay Foundation Team wanted to raise funds for those struggling with issues like depression and anxiety. Months of training went into preparing for the challenge — and the team was committed to pushing themselves and to raise as much money as possible.

How It Went

Starting the walk at 06:30 in the morning, It was going to be a very hot day with all day sunshine, the challenge began with Pen-y-ghent, where the steep climb involved an early gruelling ascent. Following a short break to enjoy the views, we walked the longest part of the route, which seemed like it went on for ever! Finally, we arrived at Whernside and were able to take some well-earned rest and have some lunch.

Next, we continued on to the last peak, Ingleborough which again was another long trek across uneven paths and stones and involved a very steep zig-zag – the team finally finished the challenge taking 15 hours ( unfortunately we didn’t complete within 12 hours -  the determination, spirit, and fundraising success made the challenge a huge achievement.

Total Donations Raised: £1,300
