May Ladd
August 27, 2025
On 5 July 2025, a dedicated team of volunteers set out to complete the UK National Three Peaks Challenge — one of the country’s most physically demanding endurance events. The aim? To raise vital funds and awareness for mental health through the RookMay Foundation.
The challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis – 1,345m), England (Scafell Pike – 978m), and Wales (Snowdon – 1,085m) within just 24 hours — a true test of fitness, resilience, and teamwork.
The walking team included:
May Ladd, Veer Ladd, Max Penny, Vinay Prajapati, Stephen Childs, and Naresh Mistry
with essential driving support from Girish Lad.
Mental health affects millions of people every year, and the team wanted to make a difference by raising funds for those struggling with issues like depression and anxiety. Months of training went into preparing for the challenge — including tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks in advance — and the team was committed to pushing themselves for this meaningful cause.
The challenge began with Ben Nevis, where relentless rain and freezing temperatures made for a gruelling ascent. The conditions led to injuries and exhaustion within the group, and although everyone gave it their all, the mountain took over 10 hours to complete.
By the time the team reached Scafell Pike, it was dark. Steve and Max bravely attempted the climb with head torches but were forced to turn back halfway due to injury. Despite their best efforts, the team were unable to complete all three peaks — but their determination, spirit, and fundraising success made the challenge a huge achievement.
We’re incredibly proud of the team's efforts and grateful for every donation received. These funds will go towards supporting individuals and organisations working to improve mental health in the UK.
“Together, we can create a future where everyone has access to the support they need to manage their mental health.”
